The Spirit of Prayers of Heresy
Prayers of Heresy is classified as a Medieval high-fantasy role-playing game translated directly from the Final Fantasy Tactics game originally created by Squaresoft (now known as Sqare-Enix). The game itself is a strategy-based role-playing game, however that element in the forums is watered down. You will see the complete list of classes and their skills that are adapted to a forum-based setting so that if and when certain interactions involving warfare, political intrigue, or individual duels occur between groups or characters, the staff and players have a set of guidelines that outline levels of limitations with each and every character so that actions stay believable.
We know that our player-base will come from all walks of RP life in regards to those who are hardcore strategists playing for conquest versus those who just want to play for story and plot purposes. Please understand that Prayers of Heresy mixes a bit of both into the game and it is neither solely strategy or plot-fluff based in nature. All players will need to come to a middle ground and we ask that those who are aggressive in wanting to conquer and overthrow to please re-evaluate the nature of their intent on these boards. We encourage you to use that aggressiveness to lead factions for the benefit of the entire game's meta-plot and not for just personal importance (this especially goes for small cliques of players who aim to control, overthrow, or purposely break the game to assert dominance over other players or the staff). For those who create characters that tend to amble about in their own worlds, please know that your character can and will be affected by world events and that Prayers of Heresy does not permit gaming in a private bubble.
Ultimately the spirit of PoH is that players create characters that take up a mantle of belief and do what they can to help their side attain that goal. The overall guidelines pull from a variety of knowledge such as Medieval history, the feudal system and their social expectations, high-fantasy concepts that you find in other well-known game or story titles, and of course the core essence of Final Fantasy franchise. The administration and its staff will always favor a balance of both realism and high-fantasy based on its overall affect throughout the entire game, and stay true to the tone and themes of Final Fantasy Tactics as best as we can.
Prayers of Heresy is about both plot and strategy, but in equal amounts of moderation.
